BluePoint in the News

This past week, students around the country participated in a walkout to generate awareness for gun control on the 19th anniversary of the tragic Columbine school shooting that took place on April 20, 1999. Regardless of the politics associated with gun control, the proactive steps being taken by schools, law enforcement and communities working together to try to prevent violence in schools is encouraging.

Last week, we highlighted several stories from communities in different geographic areas that approached school safety with a proactive mindset in place. This week, we are pleased to see that more schools are pursuing proactive measures for school safety by installing our Rapid Emergency Response System (RERS), which is designed to improve response times by law enforcement in crisis situations like armed intruders on campus.

First, the St. Gregory the Great Catholic School in San Antonio, Texas, installed our RERS as a means to try to improve its emergency response plans in the event of a crisis situation. Check out the news story (with video) here:

The Sycamore School District 427 is also in the news this week for taking time to review its emergency response plans. This school district was one of the earliest schools to install the Rapid Emergency Response System, and as with any response plan, actively assessing, reviewing and refining actions and protocols is a critical piece of the puzzle.
